There are many unit conversion apps and there are many calculator apps... There are even chemistry apps and engineering apps... but there is only one Chemical Engineering AppSuite!!!

Chemical Engineering AppSuite for iPad and iPhone has been developed by a team of chemical engineers for both professionals and students. This one-of-a-kind app features many equations and data used by chemical engineers, chemists and other engineers and integrates them with unprecedented functionality! And yes, we have also unit converters and graphing calculators.

The app is also great for any high school or college student in science and math courses. Professionals will also find it very useful!

Anyone with an interest in science, chemistry, math or engineering can find ways to use Chemical Engineering AppSuite HD!

Highlights of the app include:

Full steam table calculations based on IAPWS95 model.

Database with 1000+ common industrial and laboratory chemicals

Unit converters for temperature, pressure, length, area, time, and many, many more. Select your favorites for quick access!

Physical property calculations for more than 1000 compounds and elements including densities, vapor pressures, heat capacities, viscosities.

"ChemE Tools" for rapidly solving problems in fluid dynamics, process controls, mass/mole calculations and combustion reactions!

Periodic table of the elements with a high-resolution, zoomable view

Thermodynamic Equations of State: Rapidly solve for any variable in ideal gas, Peng-Robinson, van der Waals, SRK, and others.

Calculation of compressibility factors and graphing of individual compressibility charts via the Lee-Kesler model

Binary vapor-liquid equilibrium prediction with graphing via Raoults Law (ideal) or Wilson Model (real). Over 675 pairs possible in the Wilson Model.

Spreadsheet, statistics, and graphing tools with a built in graphing calculator! (iPad only). The iPhone version includes a very useful calculator as well!

Pros and cons of Chemical Engineering AppSuite HD app for iPhone and iPad

Chemical Engineering AppSuite HD app good for

The only app in the store summerizing the general chemical engineering constants and equations. I wish there were more substances in the compounds section. Thanks to the developer for such an app...
This is a great app for quick calculations and reference material.
Has helped me tremendously in my thermodynamics class. Would love to see Internal Energy added for convenience.
Incredibly handy app and a must have for anyone working on field.
The best app for any engineer! Must have! Thanks for programmers!
Applicazione fantastica, veramente completa! Please verify the bbl conversion, probably is wrong!

Some bad moments

As long as you work in metric units, the application would rate at least 4 stars. However, for more conventional units used in the Refining Industry, the application ends up using a mixture of units. Hopefully, the unit problem will be fixed.
I really wish I had this back when I was in school. Very well done. Some oddities I saw was how it was lacking some common compounds like butane for a lot of the property information. Likewise, you can tell it your preferred units but it wont use those units all the time for the input data. Still a very nice app. Wish it was on the iPhone.
Im no chemist but I do work chemicals quite often and have much need for conversions. First thing I noticed 30 seconds after downloading this app was that the barrel of oil conversion factor was grossly off the mark. Given I knew 42 gallons is equal to 1 barrel it put me off pretty quickly. I dont care to have to double check every conversion. It may not be the case but I tend to doubt other information in an app that cant even get the simple converter correct. Better luck in future versions.
The app is shiny, but its full of information thats not difficult to come by, full of calculators that perform trivial calculations, and full of converters that any decent engineer should be able to perform in less time than it takes to load the app. As a previous review stated, its concerning that the converter doesnt properly convert gallons to barrels correctly and that, for some reason 1 gallon doesnt equal exactly 8 pints. If simple unit conversions arent executed correctly, how can this app be trusted?
The app is useful but in cycle problems we cant obtained temperature from entropy and pressure data. This part of the app is lĂmited to obtained steam properties from temperature and pressure only.
Definitely a must have for any chemical engineer. This app can help with hw in every class from Mass & Energy Balances to Thermo to Design II. Thanks for taking the time to make this so great. Also, this app works even when youre drunk!
